You would think that after taking the conservative approach and “selling the carry” last year (that left a lot of money on the table), I would buck-up and be a little more aggressive this year. Not me. I adhere to the lesson learned from my celebrity marketing friend, Wally Whipsaw. When pricing his grain, Wally is the farmer who is trying to do this year what he should have done last year. When writing a marketing plan, Wally (and every grain producer) needs to forget last year.
