Grain quotes reach far into the future

mgexHere we are, finishing the 2009 winter wheat harvest and smack dab in the middle of the corn and soybean growing season, and the futures markets are kind enough to share their thoughts on grain values more than three years out. In early June, the CBOT started posting quotes on the Dec’12 corn futures contract (there are nearly 500 contracts open) and Nov’12 soybean futures contract (only 9 open contracts). This week the CBOT started posting quotes on the Jul’12 soft wheat futures contract (just quotes – no open interest yet).

Hey you market makers in Minneapolis, how about giving us a look at the value of 2011 spring wheat?
